Privacy Policy
Set Swap is a workout accountability app that lets you assign exercises to friends and track completions together. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, where it is stored, and your rights.
1. What we collect

We do not collect location data, health kit data, payment information, or any data not listed above.
2. How we use your data
- To operate the app — creating accounts, sending assignments, showing friend activity
- To send transactional emails — email verification, password reset
- We do not sell your data
- We do not use your data for advertising
- We do not share your data with third parties beyond the infrastructure providers listed below
3. Where your data is stored
Set Swap uses Google Firebase. Data is split across two regions:
All account data, profile information, workout assignments, friend connections, and app preferences are stored in Firebase Firestore in the EU (London) region.
Media files only — profile photos and any image uploads — are stored in Firebase Storage in the US East region. This is a current technical limitation we intend to revisit.
By using Set Swap, you acknowledge that your profile photo may be stored on servers in the United States.
4. Firebase and Google
Set Swap is built on Google Firebase. Firebase acts as a data processor on our behalf. Google's data processing terms and privacy policy apply to infrastructure-level handling of your data. You can read more at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
Firebase services we use: Authentication, Firestore, Storage, Cloud Functions.
5. Your rights (GDPR)
If you are in the EU or UK, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of your personal data
- Correction — update inaccurate data (via the Profile → Settings screen in-app)
- Deletion — delete your account and all associated data (via Profile → Settings → Delete Account)
- Portability — request your data in a portable format
- Object — object to processing in certain circumstances

6. Data retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile, assignments, and connections are permanently deleted. Profile photos in Firebase Storage are also deleted as part of account deletion.
7. Children
Set Swap is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be communicated via the app or email. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
